Hello and welcome to Fairway’s Playgroup

As your child starts playgroup it can be a very worrying time for some parents and carers as this may be the first time that you are leaving your child. We hope that this prospectus will help you to feel more at ease in your preparation before meeting us and getting to know each other more.

Our Prospectus

Established in 1978 and situated on the grounds of Fairways Primary School, we are a Registered Charity that is Committee run. We have strong links with the School and are fortunate to have regular use of the school hall attached to our building and use of the grounds for wildlife walks etc.  Each year we are invited to watch the Reception children’s Christmas play and wave to many of them that have attended our group. The majority of the children that come to us will go on to Fairways Primary School and again we are fortunate to take groups of children into the classes each week of the summer term to meet their teachers and join in with activities. For those children that will be going to other schools we arrange a transitional period with their school once a place has been confirmed. The setting will arrange visits with both the school and parents.

More Information

Art & Crafts

Please send children in clothes that you don’t mind getting mucky. We have paints, glue, water play, gardening and mud pie making etc. Overalls are provided but accidents do happen and children are encouraged to be independent in removing overalls, washing hands etc. They may brush up against another child that’s painting etc as they move freely about during the session.

Preshool Tshirts

Playgroup have their own T shirts on sale that many parents like to buy and put on over their child’s own clothes. Their child also knows that when they wear their t shirt they are going to playgroup that day. These will be available to buy at the open days and at the end of sessions. Feel free to ask us for these, if you would like to buy them. They are navy blue with our logo on.

Snack Time

The setting makes snacks a social time. You will be given a copy of our menu each half term so that you know what foods your child will be having with us, a copy will always be available on the parent notice board/website. We encourage all to try different foods but they may choose not to have some. It is planned to provide your children with healthy and nutritious food from a variety of different food groups.

Outdoor Play

In sunny weather please apply sun cream to your child before attending their session as some creams take a while to be effective. They need suitable shoes for climbing, riding bikes or for running around. Sunhats are worn when needed in our outside play and we will top up sun cream when necessary. Ofsted requires us to go outside in the rain, snow etc so please provide wellies and raincoats.
